iRobot Roomba vs Samsung

On the numbers, iRobot fields the deeper lineup (19 models), while iRobot has the cheaper entry point at ~$100, while iRobot leans harder into mopping (11 mopping machines). The table has the lineup-level numbers; the matchups below put individual models spec sheet to spec sheet.

Which brand to buy

Samsung's only current robot, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI Steam, costs $1,400, above the $1,200 at the top of iRobot's range. So the real question is less which robot cleans better than whether Samsung's premium buys anything. Owners of the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+, now discontinued, say its obstacle avoidance and steam-sanitized mop pads look excellent on paper, but they describe reliability as a gamble, with dropped pads, dead units and a buggy SmartThings app. Owners of the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI Steam add that consumables were hard to buy months after purchase and that carpet cleaning is weak.

The Roomba to set against them was the iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ at $800, now replaced by the Roomba Max 775 Combo + AutoWash Dock at the same price; the j9+'s mop pad lifts onto the top of the robot when it reaches carpet. Its owners call the mopping itself mediocre and the camera navigation slow, yet praise rubber extractors that keep pet hair from tangling. The now-discontinued Roomba Combo 10 Max added a self-washing dock, though owners rated that dock poorly.

The rest of Samsung's range is cordless sticks, from the Samsung Jet Stick 60 Pet at $330 to the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra at $1,100, a category iRobot does not make.

Choose Samsung for a robot only if your home already runs on SmartThings and you accept the reliability risk. Everyone else shopping for a robot gets better value from iRobot, and Samsung is the brand to look at for a stick vacuum.

iRobot Roomba vs Samsung: common questions

Is a Samsung Jet Bot worth the extra money over an iRobot Roomba?▾

For most homes, no. Samsung's only current robot costs $1,400 and owners of its robots report reliability and app problems, while iRobot's top robot is the $1,200 Roomba Max 875 Combo + AutoWash Dock. Samsung makes the most sense for buyers already committed to SmartThings.

Does iRobot make a stick vacuum to compete with Samsung's Jet Stick line?▾

No. iRobot sells robots and one floor washer, so a Samsung Jet Stick 85S or Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite has no iRobot counterpart. A Roomba for daily runs and a Samsung stick for stairs and spot cleaning do not overlap at all, which makes them easy to own together.
