Which brand to buy

Nothing Ecovacs sells is pushed by hand, and most of what Dyson sells is. Every Ecovacs model is a robot vacuum and mop; Dyson's range is mostly cordless sticks, corded uprights, canisters and handhelds, with a few newer robots such as the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai ($850). So the real question is not which brand is better but which job you are hiring for, and plenty of homes end up owning one of each.

For a robot, Ecovacs has the deeper range: the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni ($800) and Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone ($1100), whose bagless cyclone dock means no dust bags to buy. The ownership caveat repeats across several Ecovacs models: owners of the X9 Pro Omni, T80S Omni and T50 Max Pro Omni all describe mapping that needs redoing and an app that frustrates, and T80 Omni owners report slow warranty support.

For a stick, the Dyson V15 Detect ($830) is the one owners still defend years on, mostly for the laser that shows dust on floors that looked clean. The Dyson V8 Cyclone ($300) is the value buy. Dyson's own weak spot shows up in owner reports on the V11 Extra and the now-discontinued V15s Detect Submarine: problems arriving around the end of the 2-year warranty.
