DeWalt Vacuums
DeWalt has 3 vacuums on The Vacuum List, across 2 machine types, priced from ~$110 to ~$199. The flagship of the lineup is the DeWalt 20V MAX Cordless/Corded Wet/Dry Vacuum. Compare the full lineup below.
DeWalt started in Leola, Pennsylvania in 1924 selling Raymond DeWalt's radial arm saw, and has belonged to Black & Decker (now Stanley Black & Decker) since 1960. Its vacuums are jobsite tools first, and two of the three models here only make sense if you already run the 20V MAX battery platform: the DCV581H wet/dry vac ($199) and the DCV501HB hand vacuum ($129) both ship as bare tools, with no battery or charger in the box. The DXV06P ($110) is the odd one out, a plain corded 6-gallon poly shop vac with a 10-foot cord, a washable cartridge filter and a blower port.
The two battery models solve different problems. The DCV581H has a 2-gallon tank, a washable Gore HEPA filter and a cord socket, so it keeps running when every pack is flat. The DCV501HB is dry-only and rated by DeWalt at 46 CFM and about 21 minutes per charge on a 5.0Ah pack, with a HEPA filter DeWalt pitches for OSHA Table 1 housekeeping on concrete and drywall dust. Owners of the DCV581H like the cord-or-battery design and how quiet it is, but call its suction weak for pet hair, car interiors and fine sanding dust, and say the HEPA filter needs frequent tapping or rinsing to keep airflow up.
All three carry DeWalt's 3-year limited warranty, 1 year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee. Before buying a cordless one, price the battery you would need, because that can cost more than the vacuum.

Do DeWalt's cordless vacuums come with a battery?▾
No. Both the DCV581H wet/dry vac and the DCV501HB hand vacuum are sold as bare tools, and DeWalt's own pages say the battery and charger are sold separately. Budget for a 20V MAX pack and charger unless you already own them.
Can the DCV581H run without a battery?▾
Yes. It has an AC cord option as well as the 20V MAX battery slot, so it can be plugged into a wall outlet when packs are flat. That dual power is the main reason owners pick it over a battery-only hand vacuum.
Is the DeWalt DCV501HB a wet/dry vacuum?▾
No. It is a dry-only hand vacuum aimed at jobsite debris such as drywall dust, screws and nails. For liquids, the DCV581H or the corded DXV06P are the DeWalt models listed here that handle wet pickup.
