Pros & cons
Shark Stratos Upright
- ✓Deep-clean performance rivals uprights costing $150+ more
- ✓Dual-roller DuoClean head works on hard floor and carpet without switching
- ✓HairPro self-cleaning brushroll genuinely resists long-hair wrap
- ✓Powered Lift-Away keeps the brushroll spinning off the main body for stairs
- ✓Sealed HEPA system for allergy households
- ✓LED headlights reveal fine dust on hard floors
- ✓Large 1.5-qt easy-empty dust cup
- ✗Heavy at 16.7 lbs and bulky to store
- ✗Suction drops in Powered Lift-Away mode
- ✗Odor-neutralizer cartridges are a recurring cost (or a feature you ignore)
- ✗Short hose reach compared to a true canister
- ✗Frequently discounted — MSRP is not the real price, so shop around
Oreck Elevate Command Vacuum
- ✓Very light at 10 lbs
- ✓360 SpinBrush head with multi-floor on/off switch
- ✓5-year motor warranty
- ✓30 ft cord and four-position height adjustment
- ✓$100 less than the Elevate Conquer
- ✗Filtration is rated to 5.0 microns, not true HEPA-grade 0.3 microns — skip this one for serious allergies
- ✗No hose, wand, or onboard tools — floors only
- ✗No headlights
- ✗No swivel steering (fixed head, unlike the Conquer)
- ✗Suction power in watts is published but no independent AW/Pa figure exists to compare against other brands
- ✗Sold through Oreck's own site and dealers, not typically discounted
